Allow me to introduce myself…

Mya Lynn- Counseling Intern

Hi!

My name is Mya, and I am currently the counseling intern at Mended Hearts Counseling. I’m working towards my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I started Liberty in 2023 and I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UNC-Greensboro in 2021. Since starting in the field, I’ve gained valuable experience working as a behavioral technician with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I’ve also worked with neurofeedback and administered qEEG brain mapping. Additionally, as part of my training at Liberty, I’ve focused on integrating faith into both individual and group therapy settings.

Throughout my internship, I’ve had the opportunity to support individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and life transitions. I’ve worked with clients of all ages, from children to adults, but I particularly enjoy working with girls and women to help them reconnect with their sense of identity and navigate the complex emotions that often arise from life’s challenges.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic, with a strong emphasis on building a person-centered relationship. I incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy into my practice.

Outside of counseling, I love spending time with my friends, family, and my two cats, Poppy and Sox. I’m also passionate about arts and crafts, and my latest project was a giant crocheted bunny, which I made while binge-watching Bob’s Burgers, my current comfort show. I’d love to learn more about what brings you joy and find ways to incorporate those interests into our work together!
